GOLDEN RELEASE
A SPECIAL MENTION

Do you remember their previous release?

And the one before?

Voilà, you basically made the tour of their discography…

JAVIER SALAZAR [RDG TRIBE]

Founders of rdg tribe, Javier Salazar from France is a duo of artists that we follow closely for their cutting-edge music, generally made of heartwarming cinematic tones, meticulous percussions and well-dosed basslines. They are the craftsmen of an inviting and timeless sound, in which it is “so good” to get lost.

With a few EPs and tracks in VAs, they are far from being prolific. Yet this is not the rarity that makes each of their releases exciting, but really the music itself, resonating with the soul like good old rhythms and blues played in a familiar bar.

Rare are the projects who revive in us the flame for music, another one being Ultimae also from France. The mention is not random, as Ultimae’s owner, Aes Dana, took care of the mastering.

Finally, as if it wasn’t enough, Mohlao, who signed in 2021 our favourite Hypnus release, remixed the eponymous track with a perfect understanding of the level of depth.

Humble, dubby and comfortable as needed, “Tides” is a new delicate work from artists that we would like to hear more often in the scene!

FROM THE VAULT
RESURRECTING A DOPE RELEASE FROM THE PAST

If you need a tutorial to burn someone with speakers, literally, Lustmord explains it in this interview. Have a nice day 🙂

Soriah has his own way of awakening the ancient spirits:

LUSTMORD
[BLACKEST EVER BLACK]

Calling Lustmord “The Lord of Darkness” is not an understatement, the Welsh artist being one of the fathers of dark ambient, ready to record samples in crypts, caves and slaughterhouses just for “their interesting acoustics”. A fan of movies such as The Thing or Alien, the veteran pretty naturally evolved from Industrial techno to cinematic ambient, in a path enriched by interesting collaborations.

Donato Dozzy sees music as “a language” and for “The Word As Power”, Lustmord found the right interlocutors to dialogue with his vocal-derived drones, humbly set in the back to value the chants.

“Grigori”, in particular, featuring Soriah, an awarded ritualistic throat singer, is a musical wonder, which served as the opener of many epic mixes from our scene, the most memorable one being probably the 24th episode of Bassiani’s podcast by its resident Ndrx.

“The Word As Power” is a spiritual masterpiece, made by a notorious atheist yet a profound culture lover, always curious about “both sides of the coin”, shedding light on darkness or injecting gloomy vibes in luminous fluxes, to let the listener find the place his personal mood reflects to, and by that, to create a very unique intimate connection.
