A SPECIAL MENTION

Us on our way to finding Öjskog’s lost world 👇

… To finally discover that it is not that lost 👇

ÖJSKOG [SOUTHERN LIGHTS]

The release was announced as Finnish artist “Öjskog’s debut album” and you surely never heard about him, because under this moniker, he’s like a hidden trapdoor lost somewhere in the Arctic snow… But if by any chance you stumble on it and open it, you’ll stop breathing, as there is a giant world inside…

Behind Öjskog is Tony Lagerström, the one’n’only Tontario, well-known for his deep downtempo electronica, in line with artists such as Ólafur Arnalds, Janus Rasmussen or Aparde. Tontario made himself a name thanks to smart remixes and for having released on the legendary British imprint Anjunadeep.

Despite his honourable fame, Tony Lagerström always kept a foot in the underground culture, in various ways: he gave away many of his tracks for free throughout his decade-long career, kept on producing ambient works through his other project För Alltid and is animated by an obvious passion. He has for instance shared numerous sound packs for the IDM community.

So “Dolda Byar” is not the result of a beginner producer: Lagerström leaves his usual colourful music to join the dark forces, and delivers a stunning, visceral album full of masterpieces, unveiling more than ever his high artistic talent.

FROM THE VAULT
RESURRECTING A DOPE RELEASE FROM THE PAST

NOTE: First, out of gratitude, we surprise the artists who have accepted to be our guest writers from the 44th to the 63rd selection, by sharing what we humbly consider to be their top work.

An endless loop of deer just to make her smile (she + we 💚 deers)

Dope music and dope artworks on her label 🙌

ALEJA SANCHEZ
[NORTHALLSEN RECORDS]

Many members of our community confess being hypnotised by her: she’s the diamond of Columbia, close to nature, our dear (deer?) Aleja Sanchez. She’s been DJing for more than a decade and made herself a name for her impeccable deep techno mixes. She has been producing since 2014 and collaborated with the best, including in a memorable EP with Dino Sabatini and another one with Reggy Van Oers. In 2016, she founded Northallsen Records, particularly cherished in our Circle, the occasion to also discover her incredible talent for designing cover pictures.

“The Language of Silence” is for us her most personal hypnotic techno work, produced one year after her ambient album, also deep and intimate. Not only the EP’s three tracks are beautifully designed, but they also bring storytelling that keeps on unfolding after the end of listening. The journey also unveils her natural kindness and care.

We are very happy that she contributed to our musical share, by commenting on a release in our 56th selection, and WE send her our best wishes 🙂❤️
