HYPNOTIC TECHNO SCENE IN COLOMBIA

SUGGESTIONS OF PLACES TO GO OUT

There is obviously a place that cannot be ignored in the local hypnotic techno scene, the Tunnel Club based in Pereira. But in general, and despite a large number of clubs present in the different big cities of Colombia, not all of them are entirely dedicated to our scene, or even only to techno. However, among the places to watch for the programming that can please us, we note the Garden Underground Club in Pereira, the Frequenz in Bogota, the Hangar Nuclear in Manizales or the Terraza Club in Medellin.

It is important to know that the different collectives present in Colombia will often take advantage of the magnificent natural spaces that this country can offer!

It is impossible to talk about collectives without mentioning Matteria, perhaps the most active one in Colombia. This project is very federative, proposing events featuring other imprints such as Kalchno, Umbra and Eon. Other recommended events are those of BlackDance in Bogota, or the Caotica Festival.

Finally, how can we not talk about the Freedom Medellin Electronic Festival? It’s an initiative of the MedellinStyle organization, a real techno institution in Colombia with an international scope. It features various techno acts and shall not be missed! MedellinStyle is also behind the filmed series of events InDaJungle.

SOME LOCAL HYPNOTIC TECHNO ARTISTS AND LABELS

Over the years, Colombia has become a place of high importance for the Hypnotic Techno scene. One of its representatives, Hod, had this beautiful declaration in our group: “The scene here is inspired by the cultural richness that exists, we are surrounded by a lot of indigenous history in a personal way that brings us very close to the tribal spirituality and allows us to connect with mantras or ancestral sounds that enrich the musical content”. This is the context, culturally very rich.

Among the great actors of the scene, we find undeniably Aleja Sanchez and her well-established label Northallsen Records…

!nertia’s creativity and expertise on tribal instruments particularly impress us.

We also have Zemög and his project Tepuy Records, as well as his mate Launaea, owner of the brilliant label From A Lost Place.

Next to these talented maestros, you’ve certainly also heard of VCI, Dåggěr (formerly known as Szórëgg), Red Noise, Merino, Ancient Forest, Sepian, Kofan and Lopar… As for the labels: there are also Seis Records, by Juan Pablo Campuzano, Granular Spectrum by Darkduction and Virescence Records by Traversable Message.

The Colombian scene is full of talents to discover and follow.
