GOLDEN RELEASE
A SPECIAL MENTION

What we know: “Suoni Incisi”means “engraved sound”, has been founded in 2020 by four friends and is Italian… “What else?”
(Rest of the discography 👇)

Meanwhile in the desert:

SUONI INCISI [SUONI INCISI]

If a label’s sound is dope, it’s nearly impossible for the project to remain completely unnoticed over the years, even if its owners do whatever they can to make it invisible. Take “Suoni Incisi” for instance: only two tracks per year, poor promotion, almost no presence on social media, vinyl-only music, anonymous authors, no title… Rarely we’ve witnessed such risky management, even if the intention is laudable: anti-popularity, group cohesion, vinyl purism, ok, ok, and ok.

But then, suddenly, like an improbable green growth in the middle of the desert, “life found its way” into our small tribe of extreme music lovers, thanks to Italian DJ and producer Almedola, who shared the last single with us. “How he found it” remains mysterious, and as for the explanation, there is eventually that hallowed prophecy, transmitted for countless millennia, mentioning the comeback of a saviour, who would come to restore us to the Kingdom of God……

Not sure though, but at least, we all looked at each other completely wowed. Listen by yourself…

FROM THE VAULT
RESURRECTING A DOPE RELEASE FROM THE PAST

NOTE: First, out of gratitude, we surprise the artists who have accepted to be our guest writers from the 44th to the 63rd selection, by sharing what we humbly consider to be their top work.

It’s of course impossible not to also mention his collab with Dozzy in “Voices From The Lake“, one of the scene’s most mythic albums, already reviewed in-depth here.

If you’re looking for more recent work: another epic collab with PRG/M earlier this year:

NEEL [SPAZIO DISPONIBILE]

How people think mastering works:

… while mastering is eventually at most repainting the Nissan with a candy tint, boosting the engine, adding a stereo system and changing the used tyres…

The above picture is stolen from a meme on girls’ make-up (no comment), but while illustrating mastering, you may actually find in our scene a handful of sound engineers capable of transforming “a Nissan” into – say – “a Lexus” at least. Neel is clearly one of them, via his project Enisslab. He’s “The Sound Architect” par excellence, the sonic version of “The Analyst” in Matrix 4…

As a producer, he’s also a legend and we picked “The Vancori Complex” as our favourite release from his solo project. In particular, we spotted the very hypnotic track “Sciara” in a mix from Hendrik van Boetzelaer, himself a notorious gold digger.

If you would like to read what a sound engineer of Neel’s calibre has to say on a release: he honoured us with a humble yet precise comment in our 59th selection.
