64TH MUSIC SELECTION

As announced in the previous selection, this series of articles has been completely rethought and is launched today with a brand-new structure and design. We are not journalists, we are DJs: The new presentation is closer to what we would dream of seeing “as DJs”, and we hope that you will enjoy it 🙂🫶

A SPECIAL MENTION

Do you remember the first chapter, released on Horo in 2020?

LEMNA [REITEN]

Lemna is like a mysterious closed metal box, containing myths and fires of emotions, which are unleashed only when using the key: her vivid music…

If such a view eventually evokes Indiana Jones’ lost Ark, we’ll keep our feet on Earth, by repeating how fascinated we are by Lemna’s sound, creative, intense, and hypnotic in its deepest meaning. The vibration that music comes along with has never been so alive and striking than in Lemna’s productions, “breaking our soul in multiple pieces”, for our greatest pleasure.

“Storytelling #2” illustrates Lemna’s mystical creativity well, straight from the first track (who would have thought of using this orchestral opener?).

It found home in REITEN, an exciting project owned by Kosei Fukuda, diffusing avant-garde ambiences. Don’t miss his discography, full of gems, and REITEN’s impressive 2020 VA, to which Lemna also contributed…

FROM THE VAULT
RESURRECTING A DOPE RELEASE FROM THE PAST

NOTE: First, out of gratitude, we surprise the artists who have accepted to be our guest writers from the 44th to the 63rd selection, by sharing what we humbly consider to be their top work.

If you’re looking for more recent stuff from him, his 2022 last album is worth checking out, as well as a nice EP released earlier this summer on Repart’s label Arcadia Audio, also with Cauê:

DEEPBASS [INFORMA]

“Contact With The Machine” could be renamed “Contact With My Brother Ness”: the album is first and foremost the story of two close friends, living a blast together in Barcelona’s psychedelic nights. Such storytelling is obvious in the third and fourth tracks, “hot’n’spicy”, and the two last ones show how spontaneous the production has been, while Deepbass usually polishes his atmospheres. We enjoyed the “punk blood” injected into the journey, giving an authentic touch to the music, before stopping at the second track; a monument of dreamy techno: “Traveling Without Moving” gave us one of the strongest trippy effects of 2018, as mentioned in our full article dedicated to the Scottish stalwart.

Deepbass courtesy accepted to be our first “guest writer” in our 44th selection, sharing his passion again in a very spontaneous way. His art “embodies friendships” and creates instant proximity, as sensed in his music and words.
