Eafhm – Orb Podcast 052

If you are familiar with our weekly music selection, then you might be aware that Secuencias Temporales is one of our favourite labels, for its unequalled deepness and impeccable management. We don’t hesitate to shout it out from the rooftops, the project’s guidelines and sound signature being basically at the core of the music that we love to write on: hypnotic and inspiring.

So when its owner, Eafhm, uploads a mix, we hit play from the beginning, we don’t jump from part to part, we take the necessary time to enjoy the journey, and we learn. The Mexican artist is a master in dissolving our souls into the musical vortex, through new sensations constantly brought out of his journeys. We are tripping, strongly. This is the beauty of the modern hypnotic effect: a repetition that alienates the mind, told in trippy language.

With Eafhm, there is also always a dimension of creativity to cover. The mix has a strange way of playing the tension: long breaks followed by long intriguing and mesmerising beats. The global energy rises until a climax at 36:30, marked by Frank Bretschneider’s version of “Hornet” by PixFoil. Then, a brand new – different – story starts, with the effect of releasing the tension before growing it up again in the new interval.

The surprise also comes from the jazzy touch expressed in the sequence, classy and timeless: the jazzmen improvise piano notes in a frenetic rhythm, Eafhm slows them down so that we can capture and taste each of them. From “listeners”, we become “observers”.

Eafhm deeply loves music and its people, and love strongly stands in the storytelling: the mix is a tribute to the Italian label Eklero (and its sublabel Spagiria), so close to Eafhm’s heart, as he explained in his social networks: “This session is a very meticulous and special selection, with much respect and admiration from me to one of my favourite labels, Eklero, releasing album after album of intelligent music, sounds that go off the rails and manage to slip between the thin lines of genres and creativity.”

The least we can say is that Eklero found an amazing ambassador with Eafhm, who urges us to dig deep into the label’s discography. The mix is incredible and if you still haven’t, we expect you will also find your way to Eafhm, Secuencias Temporales and Eklero.
