CHART BY AILINDESHA

AilinDeSha, first name Aku, is a particular creative member of the community. She found two ways to be enveloped by music, firstly physically by designing a line of fashion clothes specifically dedicated to dance and secondly spiritually by mixing deep shamanic vibes, such as in “Mysterium“, a very subtle & artistic journey. AilinDeSha is involved in the scene also by co-managing Anitrique Tribe, a Ukrainian promo group which organises great conceptualised techno events.

THEMATIC SELECTION

CLASSIC

SNTS – Theory Of Loneliness [SNTS, 2015]

AilinDeSha: Some tracks have the potential to bring an intimate feeling, and confidence that music might cure, while having a certain – hard-to-describe – mental impact. The melody from SNTS’s piece touches me from the inside and becomes a part of me. No doubt that it’s a gem of my library, which I listen to every now and then without losing the sensation of the first feel.

DEEP

Atis – Aesir [End Of Perception, 2019]

AilinDeSha: “Aesir” is an example of perfect storytelling; unpredictably structured, emotionally saturated and mellow in its exposure. Along with “Straysands“, an EP released in 2020 on Norite, Atis has been one of the most interesting discoveries of the year for me.

MENTAL

Von Grall ‎– Infinitum [Horo, 2018]

AilinDeSha: Constantly revealing hidden story parts inside the repetitive structure, Von Grall shapes “Infinitum” like a goldsmith and the track immerses the listeners into a trance state very efficiently.

DARK

SNTS – Es19.2 [Edit Select Records, 2015]

AilinDeSha: When it comes to darkness and its possible definitions, I usually bring the metaphor of the Black Hole, thinking of these mysterious places in space where gravity is so strong that nothing can escape out of it. The track makes me draw such a parallel between music and space architecture, with the darkness being something that swallows up my mind entirely. “ES 19.2” is a rich track, with pads that build up and find their balance inside the stereo room, becoming keys to connect all the elements together into the holistic story. The panorama of sounds goes beyond my understanding of what a technically great arrangement is and the track shifts the ground beneath as if the world was spinning out of control.

EXPERIMENTAL

Dadub – I Will Gladly Die [Ohm Resistance, 2020]

AilinDeSha: Various shades of dark music have accompanied me from my first dive into the electronic music world. It started with my deep affection for the forest psychedelic trance and led me into the hypnotic techno circle. I feel that Dadub’s music is somewhere in between both subgenres and far beyond the borders. This track may firstly sound tense and anxious, but a higher – inexplicable – emotion lies beneath its darkness. It’s a great example of experimental music that pushes the technical boundaries further. Being also a great sound engineer, Dadub plays efficiently with the tiny details, making “I Will Gladly Die” a very unique masterpiece.

DOPE BASSLINE

Scannt – Fragmented [DMT Records, 2018]

AilinDeSha: The whole album “Inward Glance” is amazing, depicting nice variations of hypnotic techno grooves from nighttime to ambient and easy-listening genres. “Fragmented” is a solid trippy journey for those who enjoy listening to music with their eyes closed.

OLD SCHOOL

Plastikman – Consumed [M_nus, 1998]

AilinDeSha: Richie Hawtin’s contribution to the development of techno is notorious and the music made under his project “Plastikman” in the 90s has somehow reached the future. Decades have passed, but “Consumed” still sounds as if it just got released recently.

TO START A MIX

Joachim Spieth – vurt. [Affin, 2018]

AilinDeSha: I’ve always felt the intro of a mix to be very important in any performance, giving my preference to deep, psychedelic and stunning compositions. And frankly, I can’t imagine my charts without mentioning Joachim Spieth, whose contribution to the hypnotic techno world is particularly significant in my mind. “Vurt” is one of my favourite intros, perfect to start a deep journey.

FOR THE PEAK TIME

Edit Select – Phase In [Afterlife, 2018]

AilinDeSha: Edit Select will always find a place in my sets, especially during the peak time, when I want the audience to enter the trance. “Phase In” is perfect for that matter.

BONUS – TOPIC BROUGHT BY OUR GUEST

A DOPE MIX

Ness – The Memoir #30 (2019)

AilinDeSha: Ness is one of my favourite artists: he has a very unique style and a special way of telling stories musically. I’ve listened to this mix hundreds of times; I love each part of it and I know it by heart.
